Spring 2006 Update!

The MSA has been busy in the last 4 weeks with lots of events and engagements. We kicked off the final fundraising drive for the Missoula Skatepark on April 6th. This drive, titled ‘Skate To The Finish’ has a goal of $50,000 that will be matched 2-to-1 by our MAJOR DONOR. So far (as of 5/10/06) we’ve raised $21,000. Here’s what we’ve been doing:

Spring Thaw - April 28th
This was a fun event under clear skies on the U of M campus. We sold some t-shirts, some Jeep tickets and even a couple bricks.
Game of S.K.A.T.E & Video Premiers
The annual game of S.K.A.T.E. went really well and with the video premiers we raised just under $1000. Here's the OFFICIAL contest results.

Paxson School 'Art Night'
The MSA board put on a screenprinting clinic and helped Paxson School students create their own Missoula Skatepark T-Shirts. Lots of fun and we raised over $300 for the park. Special THANK YOU to Jody Paulson who organized this...we had a blast.
Also to note:
Recently, MSA board members also attended the City Council meeting where an skatepark specific ordinance was approved. This ordinance (among other things) REQUIRES the use of helmets and DISALLOWS the use of scooters, motorized vehicles, and bicycles in the Missoula Skatepark. There is a minimum fine of $25 for violation of this ordinance.
